So...Why Do I Blog?

The best reward for one who writes is not to be recognized, not really. When one writes it is a great pleasure just knowing that 1) people actually read what you write (unless it's something really nasty you don't want other people to know about), and 2) the people who read what you write actually appreciate and enjoy it.  If you happen to influence or inspire or help others with your writing, then that would be a bonus. Getting paid lots of money for it would be manna from the gods!

So it was such a pleasant surprise when I read the post made by Continental Fairy and saw that yours truly was included in her list of "bloggers with substance."  It was like getting a star in school when you were a kid. :-)

The rule is to pass the badge and share (in five words) my blogging philosophy.

Before that, the question: why indeed do I have this blog?

I started writing journals in grade school, and like most pre-adolescent girls they were all detailed and verbatim accounts about crushes and what so-and-so did, as well as frustrations and angst and all that stuff.  As I got older, the entries became less childish and mundane and more philosophical.  There are times I would read back my old entries and feel like it was a different person who wrote them.

I have always claimed (and still do) that writing journals has kept me sober in the most difficult of times.  My journals have been the silent and nonjudgmental witness of my heartbreaks, my failures, my errors of judgment.

This blog was originally a collection of what I've written in my journals from 5-6 years ago.  I was inspired by my significant other who, may I proudly add, writes very very well.  Then, as time went on, it just started a life of its own.

To answer why? Well...like I always say, I love to write.  When I write I am not the timid person people perceive me to be.  I am, I would like to believe, a person with substance.  The writer part of me is the extrovert I've always wanted to be.

So five words...

Here's my ten cents' worth

That's Prookyness* for you. ;-)

And to fulfill my duty as an award recipient (lol) it's time to pass the hat to the people whom I consider to be "bloggers of substance."  But before that the rules:

1. Thank the blogger who awarded it to you.
2. Sum up your blogging philosophy, motivation, and experience using five words.
3. Pass it on to some other blogs which you feel have real substance.
To some of my favorite reads in the blogging world:
Here's to you! Pass the badge (if you like)!
